Kiss on Film

Super 8 film. 2024

In a kiss that takes place solely on the surface of the film, the tongue shifts from an organ of speech to a technology of image production. Between proximity and barrier, the unsteady, tightly framed camera moves across a body isolated beneath a plastic sheet, whose only connection to the outside is a thin red line—the reflection of the mouth and the traces of a touch that never penetrates beyond the epidermis. While drawing inspiration from the history of art and cinema, the film distances itself from a historical or representational idea of the kiss, transforming it into a poetic operation.
